The Importance of Physician Responsibility in Pathology
Ronjan: We could have a situation where AI systems are more accurate diagnosticians and human clinicians but nonetheless as software developers don't want to be legally liable. He says we live in an increasingly litigious world sadly especially in medicine so there is the possibility of a hands-off approach to patient care. But ethically it's a very paradoxical situation right because we could find ourselves in a situation where there is a trade-off between quality of care and these issues about legal liability, he adds. "I think being innovative and game-changing is quite a very important phase in which pathology and medicine is moving into"
