The Metacontagion - The Breaking Down of Social Differences

Oedipus is introduced as brother and father of his children, as husband and son of his wife. Both represent a breaking down of the natural social differences. Exercent contagion to summarize is the first state of the scapegoat mechanism where society is descending into chaos. It's marked by two qualities: The fact that it starts to slowly and slowly entangle larger and larger parts of society and remove people's free will - symbolized by patricide and incest.
