Art until like what we call the modern day was made for and funded by the rich and powerful to make them look really good and really cool. And I think there's also a lot of connection between art and religion or some kind of faith that I think in modern days doesn't get seen as often but for the vast amount of human history. Those are the people who had money to commission these pieces of art, so they could feel closer to those deities or spirits or whatever they were.
