The Journey to America on a Steamer
The journey to america from trondheim by way of hull was not as bad as it once was, because the travel time had dropped from about six months to ten days. The meals consisted of hard biscuits, rancid butter and salty herring soup that was so disgusting that most passengers couldn't eat it. They all had to go to the bathroom in tiny, literal shit holes, where all feces just piled up higher and higher and higher as the journey went on. But even through all that, bell made it to America, docking in either boston, new york or quebec city.
