The singer-songwriter was diagnosed with a bad tonsil infection in Japan. He says he couldn't eat or drink because it was too painful to swallow. The doctor didn't give him any medicine and used an antiseptic swab on the back of his throat, which left him coughing up blood. "It was just disgusting, really, really,really awful," he says.
