The Importance of Indifference in Teaching

Everything is about having power over someone else. The number of children enhances class position and reinforces class division because it helps substantiate arbitrary academic labels as gifted and talented or learning disabled or special needs. When the bell rings, I insist they stop whatever it is that they've been working on and proceed quickly to the next workstation. It must turn on and off like a light switch. Nothing important is ever finished in my class, nor is any other class I know of ever finished with anything. Students never have a complete experience except on the installment plan.
