There are some readings of this work which cast Socrates as someone who is really trying to prevent Youtubro from going through with this. The theme of shame actually comes up pretty prominently in the second half of the work. And it's clear from Socrates' perspective that Y outubro should be ashamed of himself for doing what he's doing without having an adequate grasp of the relevant concepts.
