The Relationship Between Humans and Animals in the Renaissance

In many Renaissance texts, it's between the animals generated in a womb or without one. It makes me wonder what kind of implications this all has in a religious context. Do they ever talk about this sort of issue? Can those animals be saved? Or even the cannibals? So can we convert them? And does that depend on rationality?
