The Four Forms of Masculinity in the Inferno

As Dante enters the Inferno proper he quickly comes across for example in the fifth circle the men who are angry, who are raging against themselves. And then deeper down once they've got through the city of this Dante discovers what in modern psychotherapy might be called the phallic narcissists those who wave their power solely to attack others. If they have one quality in common it would be an inability to connect with life which gives us a clue as to what masculinity is there for about and I want to explore that now in its more positive forms.
