The Importance of Generalism in Diversifying Beyond Just Career

There's plenty of suggestive evidence that broadening your horizons is a good thing for you in a whole bunch of ways. I think as we become competent in things we tend to just do more of that same thing and lose the feeling of struggling with something or learning something new. There's like suggestive research that having hobbies and things that are unrelated to your work actually are really good for sort of mental health and your self efficacy. If that hobbies are too closely related to your work they actually decrease your sense of self efficacy. We're often battling against sort of comfort because it's so comfy you don't want to get out, which applies to everything from our social circle to what we see
