Emma and Harriet's Ball
Emma was surprised to find Frank's emotions towards her to have called considerably. Mrs Churchill then decided to retire slightly south of the city to Richmond, a good deal closer to Highbury. Preparations were put in place to reinstate the ball at the crown and the young people of Highbury's spirits were high. The dancing commenced, but during the last two sets before supper, Emma spotted Harriet without a partner - only man available being Mr Elton who openly refused to ask her. Seeing this too, Mr Knightley gallantly proposed Harriet's dance with him. And that is where we pick up tonight.
