Jefferson's Views on Religion
Thomas Jefferson wrote out an illustration of what he wanted his gravestone to look like. His design is based on his explicit drawings and instructions of an unmistakable Egyptian obelisk. It would later represent one of the main symbols in Freemasonry during the revival of it in the United States three quarters of a century later. In general Jefferson's views on religion were controversial, more harsh than most things that Freemasons were saying about religion at this time.
