The Importance of Contracts in Jewish Religion
A contract is designed to protect you from the other's desire. The Greek word nomos originally meant something like a wall. A wall for instance it divides my neighbor's pasture from mine. So yes we have all kinds of written and unwritten laws, codes that define for us who's who and what powers one person has over another.
