The Paradigm of Moses

Moses is viewed as giver of the law, but it seems that post Elijah, when people think of the prophet, they think of Elijah. So Moses kind of sets the standard or provides a paradigm for prophet, priest and king. But then Elijah comes along who's not a kingly figure andwho's not a priestly figure, but he's certainly the prophetic figure. John the Baptist comes in the spirit and power of Elijah.
