On march eighth, over 700 nurses at saint vincent's hospital in worcester, massachusetts, hit the picket line and started what would become the longest nurses strike in the states. At the center of the strike were concerns about working conditions and staffing, specifically, a high nurse to patient ratio that nurses say makes it difficult to provide safe and sufficient care to every patient. This strike officially ended on january third, two thousand 22. But there are many enduring lessons to learn from this historic strike.
