NATO's Agreement to Drop the Requirement for the Membership Action Plan

In 2008, we went along with it. The Ukrainians got this open-ended promise. One day, Ukraine and Georgia will join NATO, no membership action plan or timetable. Yet everybody was happy to sing from that diplomatic song sheet. We're not going to accept something that falls short of a concrete kind of specific sign of progress towards us joining. Roland Martin: How do you find us a journalist dealing with the ambiguity of listening to diplomats and what they say? And how modern the ambiguity is? I think Joe's basically summed up quite well. It's a preservation of the status quo.
