I think student politics is at its worst when it feels like young people who want to be adult politicians one day doing getting their practice rounds in, and they just replicating the national parliament. The politics they're passionate about and fighting for is all based on factual infighting and about the power plays and struggles on the university campus where the stakes are very low. But yeah, I would hope that the activism and student unionism of young people is qualitatively different than just becoming a little labor or a little liberal who just happens to be university.
