The Idea of the Mind
This idea of these individuals who can there's the world out there, and they're processing it internally is built very deeply into a lot of the historial philosophy. And this is something that a number of people have struggled against, really, over the course of the twentieth century. Kripke is one brick in that wall, but there's a lot of people who who are trying to emphasize the fact that we're practical creatures and that we engage with the world. But you can't think of language as something that's that merely a matter of our mental representations. You have to think of it in terms of acts and practices.
