I grew up near an old housing estate that was due for demolition. As I got to about 14, people were moved out and the place was basically just abandoned. This only opened it up for curious teenagers to explore - we carved out a series of little sit-offs in each abandoned building. Those consisted of maybe one or two rooms where me and my mates would chill, get drunk, smoke up,. whatever mischief was the order of the day. It also provided us with a place to go whenever our parents got a bit too much for us.
