Joyce's Metamorphoses
Joyce's Finnegan's Wake and Thomas Mann's Joseph novels both plunged into the myth world entirely. It was Joyce's intention to write still another work, which would have completed his journey, you might say, but he died before doing so. Ovid's Metamorphoses is as fine a handbook of the classical mythological tradition as you can get. A theme throughout Ulysses is Consubstantiality, which is a theological concept.
