Eunice Cole's Trial
Eunice Cole was born in England around 1580. She and her husband, William, moved to the New World in 1638. Eunice had numerous run-ins with the law when she first arrived. This included being accused of slanderous speech - a charge that would lead to one of the most dreaded accusations any woman could face at the time: Witchcraft. A judge found goody-col guilty after stripping her down and finding a witch's mark on her skin which he described as 'a blue thing like unto a teat hanging downward about three-quarters of an inch long' The court didn't think they had enough evidence to convict her so she was released yet again
