Recorded live at the 2025 ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego, this session featured Sanjay Srivastava, CEO of Vocareum, and Seshashayee Murthy, Data Science Researcher at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, UC San Diego. The session was emceed by Kate Sutherland, Managing Director at Tyton Partners.
The session addressed the national decline in math proficiency and its impact on student success in STEM. UC San Diego and Vocareum showcased their partnership to combat this issue using Generative AI-powered personalized learning. They introduced an adaptive domain model that maps mathematical concepts and prerequisites, integrating with course materials and assessments to deliver targeted, real-time support. By creating a digital twin of each student, the system diagnoses knowledge gaps and provides personalized instruction at scale. Tested across math and programming courses, the solution offers a cost-effective way to close the Bloom 2 Sigma gap while integrating seamlessly with platforms like LMS, ERP, and Jupyter Notebooks—empowering institutions to improve outcomes without adding to faculty workload.
