The Reliability of the Stars

The idea here is they knew the stars are reliable when they traveled at night. And by the way, stars are still used in navigation by pilots. These have GPS navigation systems and basically many of the satellite systems that we rely on for navigation are actually based on constellations. So stars are a reliable source for finding guidance in the darkness.
