I had learnt my politics in Brixton as a boy starting at 14 or 15. He was this kid who knew nothing about everything. And it taught me something about British tolerance. Many people thought I was silly, but it just felt right. It was flesh and blood politics. Was this something sort of almost primal about going back? Yes, it was an instinct. Though in practice, I actually said, well, I'm in. So the message just wasn't getting through.
