Alexander was a confirmed peripatetic devoted to interpreting, analyzing and expounding the thought of aristotle. His writings were studied in the school of plotinus, the founder of neo platonism. Alexander's standing as the foremost authority on aristotle outlived late antiquity. He was still an important source for byzantine philosophy. And in the islamic world, his works were translated into arabic alongside aristotle.
