The Role of Rage in the Iliad

The very first word of the epic is rage. Homer could have begun the story with any other word in that first sentence, but he chose rage. The Iliad is not the name of the poem, that's a later name put on the song about Ilion or Troy. It's what Homer would have presented to people was the wrath of Achilles.
