What Is Socialism?
It was a reform movement that focused on a handful of reforms. They were overwhelmingly concerned with economic reforms. Also some political reforms. And it was overwhelmingly made up of farmers. But the movement also reached out to industrial workers. The word you would use in europe, in ireland, is class conscious. Now, they did not use the word socialism to describe themselves but obviously hey verged on so it was something very close to socialism. In a lot of respects.
