The Book of Sirak
Many in Israel stood firm and were resolved not to eat unclean food. They chose to die rather than be defiled by food or to profane the holy covenant. The books of the law, which they found, they tore to pieces and burned with fire. Many great teachings have been given to us through the law and the prophets. We should praise Israel for instruction and wisdom.
