Pelosi and the Women's Movement

Because Pelosi's district is so safely democratic, she's able to spend much of the time she would have been spending fighting for re-election instead supporting others. She got a seat on the Appropriations Committee, where deals are made and money is spent. If you go out and help someone raise money, and then you turn to them and say, hey, I'd like your vote for speaker, it's very, very hard for them to say no. It's the favor file all over again.
