Each sailor aboard the fancy was given a share of the treasure that roughly equalled around £1000 in the money of those days, which is around $200,000 in today's terms. That is more money than most sailors would have made in an entire lifetime back then. The remainder of the money was sadly used to buy slaves, around 90 of them, and this was done for two reasons. Firstly, the slaves would be made to do all the hard labour on the ship, making its next voyage easy for the rest of the crew. And secondly, as awful as this is, this was actually a form of money laundering. Every knew that the consequences of this attack wouldn't be minor
