What Would Happen to TSMC's Facilities in a War Zone?
If there were anything that involved fighting in Taiwan, I think it would be hard to imagine the SMC still operating after the fact. The machinery in a chip fab is the most complex and precise machinery in use today. On top of that, TSMC's facilities only work because they have US-based software and machine tools. So even if China was able to take over the SMC's facilities in tact and keep all the employees there,. It would feel pretty much impossible to operate the facility if the US and Japan wanted to make it difficult.
