While stocks and bonds were tanking, the dollar was rising. In fact, the dollar index had one of its strongest days. It initially rose on the hotter than expected inflation numbers. But not only did the dollar rise on the worst expected inflation data, it rose again on the worst than expected consumer confidence numbers.
