The Evolution of Dolphins and Whales
For a fish because of the way their muscles are structured along the side of the body they move their tail from side to side but with dolphins they move their tails up and down. The reason that dolphins and whales have a different direction of tail movement is because their ancestors moved on to land for a while before changing their minds and returning back to the water. Despite this difference dolphins and whales do have the same fusiform shapers fish because it's just so effective for moving through water. Like fish dolphins also have fins including a dorsal fin pectoral flippers and a tail fin to propel them forward if only there was some way that I could have something similar.
