Sally Kohn: As someone who grew up gay in a very conservative community, I barely know a single person who is anywhere on the LGBTQ plus spectrum. It's hard to overstate how isolating that is and can be an academia that sometimes just feels like more of the same thing where I have peers who identify that way. She says science requires this compartmentalization of your personal and professional life that's a little bit disproportionate or a lot disproportionate compared to other STEM fields.Kohn: The White House Office of Sciences, Technology Policy and the Biden-Harris administration are really interested and motivated to get these things moving.
