Sticky Notes: The Classical Music Podcast

CHAPTER

Brahms's B Major Piano Trio

Johannes Brahms's B major piano trio is one of the rarest of rare pieces in that it is published in two distinct versions. In 1853, Brahms knocked on the door of the Dusseldorf home of Robert and Clara Schumann, one of classical music's first power couples. He was shocked to find that Robert quickly had written an article called Neubanen, or New Paths,. It essentially anointed Brahms as the man who would carry on the torch of Ludwig von Beethovenas music's next great genius.
