Cancer Genetic Counseling

Before working in oncology genetic counselling, i worked more so in the petiatric or rare disease genetic counselling realm. I think a big difference as well is patient's level of background or understanding. In the cancer setting, it's typically much more straightforward. We have a test that is appropriate for that patient, and if it's negative, then usually it's there's nothing else that you would need to do at that time. It's also usually a much shorter relationship because there's not that diagnostic odyssey aspect as much as there can be in the rare disease setting.
