Fonda: I wanted to evoke this latter half of the 20th century, post World War II time period. She says she drew inspiration from gangster films like Godfather and Goodfellas. Jade City is set in a futuristic world with no cell phones or modern technology. "I think everything should be an active choice on the part of the author," Fonda says.
