Value is in the eye of the beholder, we don't even have that debate. Adam Smith made a whole list of people who he thought were really unproductive and strangely every kind of singer and dancer was on that list. Instead of thinking of it like that again, if we can really debate value, but sorry, because he did do that, then there was a debate. But because it's now this really fuzzy term because value is in the Eye of The beholder,. I really believe in looking at experiments. Let's learn from examples.
This is the second part of a two-part interview. Recorded in 2018, economist and author Mariana Mazzucato discusses her book, The Value of Everything, with UK Labour MP Stella Creasy. It's a wide-ranging discussion looking at how real wealth is created in our economy and how we can measure the true worth of both infrastructure and services. Mariana Mazzucato is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London.
We’d love to hear your feedback and what you think we should talk about next, who we should have on and what our future debates should be.
