The Riddle of the Treatise
It seems to me and quite a few people who read Hume that those two aspects of his writing are both there, the skeptical and the natural science of man approach. But they're in tension because if you're a skeptic how can you have a positive science? How can you say how things are? It's what I refer to as the riddle of the treatise.
