Introduction
In 2019, the Conservative Party mentioned on page 48 of its selection manifesto that it would update the Human Rights Act 1998. By June 2022, some draft legislation was laid before Parliament by Justice Secretary Dominic Rabb. A few months later, Mr. Rabb had been in gone as Justice Secretary and the bill had been shelved. Now he's come back and the bill has been lifted back off the shelf. And the Bill of Rights bill has now been accompanied by an illegal migration bill which would remove, seemingly forever, the right of an individual to claim asylum in the UK. I'm joined by three experts in Human Rights law to mull over what just happened and what might yet be to come.
