The Problem With Expositional Preaching
It's possible to work your way slowly through the text of the scripture, verse by verse, chapter and chapter, and to miss the point. A simple illustration is the problem that the Mormons make about baptism in 1 Corinthians 15. That text should not be interpreted in isolation. It needs to be interpreted by the analogy of faith and the analogy of scripture. We have to see the big picture as well as the smaller and narrow picture.
