Matthew's Lineage Reflects Jesus' Divinity
Matthew is going to work to incorporate so many passages of the Hebrew Bible. He uses them to reflect Jesus' divinity and that he's the Son of God. As he gives that lineage, I love that he points out anomalies. The adult church, Jesus came from Ruth, the outsider. And yet he was in fact the Messiah.
