We don't know if there's planets, let alone if they're hospitable to life. So why don't we just assume that the stars will have planets? Statistically, planets do appear to be relatively common. I think that is a safe bet. Certainly safer than the assumption that, you know, they're going to get a signal back, a phone call in 2029.
