How to Use Rhetorical Questions in Questions

In ASL, facial expressions were a very strong marker for that. And I think in at least some dialects of ASL, there's also a lip-pursing involved. But mainly it was a facial expression and this is ASL again, not just sign English. It would not surprise me at all to find that there are some cultures where they're almost never used. The Chinese have had two and a half millennia to accumulate rhetorical strategies. Just like the West. Their writing could be very difficult even when you do understand the character.
