The Relationship Between Cognitive and Affective Empathy
We seem to be bad at just putting ourselves in the shoes of people once we define them as the enemy. And I think this is kind of taking us into another direction, which is that there may be a role for empathy in conflict resolution. Even just calculating about the apparent aggressors' state of mind could dissolve conflict and lead to a different outcome.
