The entire lake is public property and I knew that the trail connected right where we were so I thought that there wouldn't be any issues. We ditched the kayak on the shore and follow a little footpath into the woods. A scraggly old man rolls down his window with a shotgun, he said, what the fuck are you doing here? This is private property. Chills ran down my spine at the way that he looked up and down at Ellen dye. Had we been hiking that day, I think that old man would have caught us. That stupid little boat saved our lives.
