David Thoreau was invited to mom, Pelerin meeting by Roger McBride and there he met Friedman and others. He then went to Chicago for his PhD in economics under Yale Brosen. While at Chicago, he was recruited to join a new institute being formed in San Francisco called Cato. After Cato moved to DC, he became the founding president of Pacific Institute, which was later called Pacific Research Institute. David organized a project on range land policy when Western ranchers were rebelling against federal management.
