The History of the Arabic Translation Movement
In the kurason region, different cultures and religions had lived together in relative peace prior to the arab conquest. By conquering former byzantine lands, the arabs also gained control over massive holdings of greek literature. Without the active participation of religious minorities, the translation movement could not have taken place. Helping the translation movement was new paper technology arriving from china. And even more importantly, arabic became the new lingua franca which helped spread the new ideas and knowledge far and wide.
