There was a profound faith in experts and an aspiration that experts could be used to revolutionize society. And this segues directly into many of the corporate ideas of the time. This is almost like the beginnings of what you might call managerialism or like scientism. But it ended up with progressives of that day ending up supporting things that I think progressives today would be horrified by.
