For women, volunteering and housework have traditionally been a greater part of life than for men. The fact that studies have found a slower pace of cognitive decline among women speaks of the potential benefit of maintaining an active life after leaving our jobs. Rates of al tamers disease among black americans are about twice as high as for white Americans. For hespinics, it's one and a half times higher than for whites.
